    My first program

A while ago I write a blog post about my raspberry pi. About my setting it up and since then I’ve been using it as a streaming radio. Well I got fed up of having to remote into the command line every time I wanted to play some music in the kitchen and started thinking about how I could automate it. I thought about Bluetooth, but then I couldn’t work out how to trigger it when I wanted the music on, rather, I thought I could trigger it when the Bluetooth was present, but that

    Last first impressions

In the run up to Christmas I treated myself to a bundle from Square-Enix, it was £20 for 6 games, and you didn’t know what games you would get until a specific date. It was a risk, but I figured it was a cheap way to bump up my Steam list and get a few games for my PC in the process. I wasn’t expecting a lot of new games (plus my PC was bought to output to the TV as a media machine…allowing me to watch American Netflix and Sky Go) but I got a few interesting choices… Deus Ex

    Viva la revolucion

It’s that time of year again… We’ve reached March and I’ve almost finished another Assassin’s Creed game. This time out it’s the first proper outing for the PS4 (I don’t count Black Flag because it was on both PS3 and 4). So… Here we go… We are in revolutionary Paris this time out and its the turn of the 18th century. The setting is amazing, the graphics as good as ever, but what really wows, is the number of NPCs this game has populating the city. It’s madness, there are oft

    Relaunch

Hi… It’s taken a while, but thanks to @philcooper nagging me, I’ve finally got around to updating the blog, and I’ve taken the opportunity to do a little refresh at the same time. I’ve swapped out the old theme and changed to this one, which scales much nicer on mobile devices. Not that I’m blaming her, but I also have a girlfriend now and because she lives away spend rather a lot of time emailing/texting/messaging her, as a result my gaming/reading/watching has fallen behind

    EXCELSIOR!

For those of you who don’t know or haven’t worked it out from the tweets on this site, I am a librarian. I work in a library. It’s brilliant. I love my job. Because it means I get to be involved in work like I am about to write about. About a year ago was asked to help out with the Stan Lee Excelsior Award organised by the pretty legendary Paul Register a school librarian from Ecclesfield. This was the first year schools from Hull took part and on Friday last week I was lucky

This is my TV, there are many like it but this one is mine.

Hi everyone. Not a game related post today. Apologies but I have been doing very little serious gaming of late. Don’t really know why but I have been using the PS4 for Netflix and that’s pretty much it. I really need to put aside some time and carry on digging into Disgaea 4 and to start Trine 2: the compete story, but that’s for another time. So can hear the masses shouting (all both of you) ‘What have you been doing with your time?’ Well, I have been doing a few things. For

    Always another fantasy.

First up an apology. It’s been far to long since I have blogged on here. I have no excuse, just been doing other things. Nothing too exciting either. Mostly boring grown up stuff, gardening, decorating (planning at least) and running off to Leeds to Ikea when I get the opportunity. (For those of you who have never been may I suggest the Lancashire Hotpots – I fear Ikea link) Watching lots of films (usually bad Sci fi) and TV – most of which will probably become blog posts in

    Yaaaaar, me hearties!

Well. I know. It’s been a while. But I have good reasons. Honest. I promised to a friend of of mine (some of you may know him as @scrufflibrarian) that I would a) post more often on here and b) that I would post about the game he created. I failed miserably at one and this is not about the other. This post is about the game that has stopped me from posting for the last who-knows-how-long. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. First of all I have to say I have not finished this game
